Matthew Stombaugh is a trial lawyer.

He represents people and their families when someone else causes harm to them.

Matt represents people harmed in car accidents and truck wrecks. He also represents people who suffer harm because of medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, and civil rights violations. When that harm leads to wrongful death, Matt represents the family members of the victim in their pursuit of justice and accountability.

Matt’s primary passion in life is helping others.

While he was an undergraduate student at Bryan College, Matt worked as an unpaid intern teaching in Mumbai, India, volunteering with the Medici Project in Atlanta, Georgia, and interning with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Matt’s experience in the non-profit sector drove him to attend law school. He wanted the ability to help others through the law.

Matt attended and graduated from The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

While a student there, Matt excelled inside and outside the classroom.

He interned with the Shelby County Public Defender’s Office.

He worked as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Shelby County Criminal Court.

He served as a student attorney at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic.

He competed on the National Mock Trial Team.

He led the school’s Moot Court Board as Chief Justice.

The Tennessee Supreme Court even recognized Matt as a “Law Student for Justice” in recognition of his pro bono work.

After graduation, Matt married his law school sweetheart, Ashley, and began work as an attorney representing Memphians who had been injured in motor vehicle accidents and truck wrecks.

After several years, Matt moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he continued to represent injured people and expanded his practice to include those injured by medical malpractice. After Three years in Knoxville, Tennessee Matt accepted a position representing people injured in Cleveland, Ohio and across the nation as an attorney at Dicello Levitt.

During his time there, Matt focused his practice almost exclusively on victims of medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, and civil rights.

In January 2026, Matt joined attorney Scott Fromson in Beachwood, Ohio.

Matt loves what he does – helping others through the law.
